Islam liberates the Muslim girl

One of the many topics of controversy and curiosity in the Non-Muslim sector of the society is the status of the Muslim girl and the rights and privileges that she – or rather that she does not – enjoys. Media, has often, in a quite unjustified manner, portrayed the Muslim woman as “oppressed”, “shrouded” and “suppressed” to contribute to a perception of her which has a negative connotation above anything else. The real picture, however begs to be different. The tenets of Islam, by its very nature, denounces oppression in any form, may it be in case of women or mankind as general.

Every Muslim has high regards for the sacred book called Quran and Chap 33 of this manuscript holds women’s right as very important. It propagates the wearing of Hijab for them, so that they are known as “free respectable women” in the society. “Hijab” is a term that is employed for covering and denotes not simply the headscarves but also loose and comfortable clothing in subdued tones and hues.

Islam women – images of liberation

Before embarking on a discussion of Islam women, it is essential to consider the tenets of the Islam religion and the light in which it views the fairer lot. Islam is an all encompassing religion, very broad in its outlook, welcoming the participation of all categories of people at all times and locations. The position of women here is elevated and it seriously considers equality as a very important aspect of treating men and women alike. It observes women’s liberation as extremely vital and holds modesty, polite manners and good character as the means to achieve liberation. And truly enough, Islam women of today are dignified and respectable.

Intrinsically repressive and cruel terms like “shrouded” and “beaten” have been used to describe their existence, when the truth about these respectable women is far from this exaggerated and histrionic portrayal.

Why do Arab women have a particular dress code?

Most Arabic women follow a dress code for one particular reason. The Islamic law says that women should be dressed modestly and hence most women from this faith would be covered in what is more commonly known as “Hijab”. It is a known fact that Arabic women are considered to be some of the most beautiful women on earth. They indeed have beautiful skin and wonderful sharp features.
