Islam women – images of liberation

Before embarking on a discussion of Islam women, it is essential to consider the tenets of the Islam religion and the light in which it views the fairer lot. Islam is an all encompassing religion, very broad in its outlook, welcoming the participation of all categories of people at all times and locations. The position of women here is elevated and it seriously considers equality as a very important aspect of treating men and women alike. It observes women’s liberation as extremely vital and holds modesty, polite manners and good character as the means to achieve liberation. And truly enough, Islam women of today are dignified and respectable.

Depiction of Islam women by the Western society

Western society has often picked up on the modest veil used by Islam women as a sign of oppression, which is actually never the case. Women in Islam, in the light of Western media and propaganda, have very frequently been projected as weak, suppressed, ignorant and unhappy. Intrinsically repressive and cruel terms like “shrouded” and “beaten” have been used to describe their existence, when the truth about these respectable women is far from this exaggerated and histrionic portrayal.

The liberated Islam women

Islam believes in true liberation that is not deviated from the natural inclination of men and women living in the society. Women have been created by the Almighty to please and offer comfort plus support to the men in their lives, like husbands, fathers, sons and brothers. Men, on the other hand are created to provide for and protect the women who are legitimately their wives, sisters, mothers and daughters. Islam, as a religion, prefers that individuals should live their lives in line of such natural inclination.

An Islam woman is fully liberated to live life to the fullest, with all rights and responsibilities that are designated to her in the spiritual, economic and social spheres. Rather than being opressed, she is empowered to live a respectable life within the society, permitted to obtain education, work if she pleases to and also enjoy the right to inherit, control money, choose grooms and seek divorce, if she wants. An Islam woman therefore, is a personification of happiness, tranquility and strength.

Arab women

Arab women, as history reveals, have often been subjected to discrimination and restrictions in the earlier days. But with the introduction of Islam, their position has immensely improved and they are readily taking the charge of liberating themselves from dictatorship, as per their own priorities and choices.
